Copy editing for Mill Valley News
Editing is one of my favorite things to do in journalism, and, as editor-in-chief of Mill Valley News, I edit most of the stories that go online. These three stories I've edited are diverse in subject, and each needed different types of edits.

As part of "Breaking Barriers," a reporter profiled a genderfluid student, writing about the student's transition and journey to acceptance. The profile didn't end up online because the student's parents didn't want it published, but it was still a good editing experience because I used my knowledge of LGBT topics to help the reporter explain genderfluidity.

One of Mill Valley News' best blogs this year is a food blog where a staff member writes about recipes she's tried and includes pictures of the food she makes. While editing one of her first blogs, I decided to check what the AP stylebook says about recipes, and I ended up using my edits to teach her how to properly format a recipe in AP style.
